Assignment Corporate movie

1a. Analyze examples

I found two different Google corporate movies and i couldn’t decide which of them was the best.

The first one present how open mindedness the company are and how people describes how fantastic their work are.

The other has the same attribute and “goal” but in this one have they focus on new employed staff. It’s a fantastic company with great management and leadership, which let their staff to be creative and open-minded.

Both of this movies have a fun attribute and you can feel from the start of them both that you have to finish them and you want more information about this company. I’m very interested in this company and sees it as a job I want or been a part of.

Both of them work with similarities of happiness and freedom, its attribute focus on how you will become as a part of the Google family and they have visualized it with help of our previous knowledge of how a family is; treatment, close and security.

We believe every business need its wild ducks
– Thomas Watson, Jr.

This corporate movie has a broader goal with its company explanation. They start it with a sign as a flying duck, which is free and can do what he wants. “We believe every business need its wild ducks” – Thomas Watson, Jr.  They movie include many different aspect from IBM’s business and have many emotional aspects, which makes the movie more interesting and makes the viewer more interested to watching it.

Photographic techniques
I love to collect at beer coasters. Every time I visit a new pub and I have a chance to take a coaster, I do it. They can be compared as art and for me is it a memory of places I have visit. The coaster below is from the Pub Patty Murphy’s, which I visited the first night I was out here in Rotterdam. Every coaster I collect has a specific memory  and a story.

coaster

Same coasters, photographed in different angels and different styles properties.

I used my IPhone 4s camera and its own modification program to be able to take the ten different pictures. From picture one to ten  have I selected these properties; Retro, transfer, Process,  Mono (b&w), Noir (b&w), Krom, original, Tonad, faded, contrast. I also put an auto corrector on every picture, which corrected colors and sharpness. I use different kind of top views when I photographed the coasters, with purpose to show their shapes and differentness. These different picture properties shows different feelings with the pictures and I tried to choose “right” property for the specific pictures, which hopefully would give the best feeling, expression and effect. For example, coaster number 4 has a “Mono (b&w)” effect, which purpose is to create sharpness in the pictures and make a strong contrast.

beer coasters (kopia)

Here is also one photo session there there I have shoot different pictures of beer coasters. In this session have I tried to pick different kind of coasters and chose on purpose picture properties, which may create a good effect for the specific coasters. If you look at coaster number 6, has it a chrome effect added on, which increase the color contrasts.

Social Media projects – Idea for a project

Image

This is a mind map of project “Travel together”.
By using social medias like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, forums and online communities, can people find a travel company, new friends or just someone how wants to travel to the same place as you.

By using this concept, may your journey be less expensive, you can find new friends and if you searching for peoples with same interests as you, for example climbing, you can organize a trip together.

The main idea of this project is to create a connection point for people with different kinds of needs. If you searching for traveling company, if you just need a ride because you have no car. It’s only the imagination who sets the limits.

You can find the mind map here.

Social Media Project – Analysing a project

Mind Map

A.What kind of media were used ?
A Facebook group was created for this market. People can join the group in order to sell and buy things that they need. This group is used solely by people in Rotterdam.
B.What are the results ?
It’s a good alternative to use because it’s free for everybody and has no selling fees. If you are looking for something special, you can post a question on the group and hopefully find someone else searching for your product and could possibly sell it for a little amount of money.

Sometimes it can happen that people want to rent a vehicle for the weekend, for example a car. With help from the Facebook group it’s easy to find someone who wants to rent out their car, in many cases the vehicle is already available through the ad service.

C.What is in your opinion about the function of social media in this case?
I think it’s very good to use Facebook as the primary social media for situations like these. Its ease of use and is free for everybody. I haven’t used this advertising method yet but I will probably do it. Because I will only be here in Rotterdam for six months, it feels wrong to buy a lot of gadgets, however is can be beneficial for me so that I can have a greater standard of living. If I were to purchase any gadgets, there would be an option with selling them before I left with help of the group.

The Facebook group task is to create the connection between people with different needs. A group of people selling products, and another purchasing.

SELF-PORTRAITS ASSIGNMENT 2

Here can you see my selected self-portraits of profile-sites.

What I think about self-portraits

I think self-portraits are a good thing to use. It’s common in personal letters, CV and also in the start of books. It’s a way to present yourself in a visual way and tell peoples who you are and give them an opportunity to imagine about your personality. But as always, there are drawbacks to everything. If the self-portraits are not serious or the peoples don’t care about the photos and using bad non-useful material, will the self-portraits main function be wasted. When you shall present yourself with a self-portrait is it also possible to give a different view of your personality, which not reflect the reality.

What did you learn of this exercise?

By analyzing self-portraits have I started to understand the differences how a picture can be interpreted. Its also depends on what kind of mood you are and your earlier experiences about the portraits.

In try to look at a picture with a wider view and try to find the “meaning” with it. By analyzing and include aspects as “why is the picture taken right there” and “what is’t about” may a new interpret be performed. I think the personality of a human have a great affect on how a picture can be interpreted and their earlier experiences and background they have.

What does a profile site mean to me?

Assignment B.
A useful tool to use if you want to show yourself for the whole world. In that way you let others to enjoy your self-portraits and you can also promote yourself, if you work as a artis or such. You can “make” new friends and meet people from different places in the world. The disadvantage of this is that I mentioned before, can a profile-picture be misleading and reflect a untrue personality, which not exist.

What do your analyses have in common?

When I analyses this self-portraits have I tried to find something I like and also something that have some connection to. It’s hard to explain but it’s a feeling or emotions, which they leaving to the viewer and makes it easier to understand and imagination of the picture.

What tools/ methods do we use when we analyse self-portraits to identify personalities?

It’s not one answer for this question. When a person presents himself, many different methods are used. Sometimes will just a part of their face appears and sometimes just an eye. Sometimes have they done a pictogram for their presentation and so on.  The picture is often made in black and white color to give them a nice effect.

Can we use these tools/ methods also for analyze other images? Try to explain this and what did you learn of this exercise? What is your connection to VKB and VC?

Of course we can analyze pictures from other fields. If you try to imagine the pictures purpose and its intended message have all pictures something to say. If we look at a picture on purpose with a objective view might we found many “clear” perspectives of the picture. But if we tried to have a subjective view instant, may the whole interpretation be different.

By just use those two different interpretation methods have certainly many analyses been performed.

Here are more examples of how a picture can be analysed:

  • Historical- the “when”
  • Technical- the “how”
  • Ethical
  • Cultural
  • Critical

By using different analyzing methods and different persons interpretations can we learn a lot. Also by looking at a picture and then discuss it with another person and try to understand his/hers imagination and interpretation of the picture.

SELF-PORTRAITS ASSIGNMENT

Image

This is two actors from Sweden Johan Rheborg (1963) and Henrik Schyffert (1968).

Besides being great actor are both of them artists and and currently they have a TV show about photography, there they are trying to find new inspiration for their work.

I like this picture of them two because they are trying to reflect their crazy stereotypes, which they have built up during their career as actors. You can see that they have worked a lot together and are good friends. Like also that they have built up a good contrast between their “normal” personalities and their self-portraits as they carrying.

Image

Self-Portrait of Carl Larsson (1853-1919), Swedish painter and interior designer, representative of the Arts and Crafts Movement.

His painting works seems to include oil and watercolours. He have some kind of childhood in his works and it feels like he loves what he are doing.

I like this photo because it have fine colours and the childhood he tries to bring out with the photo when he is holding the doll, which can be reflected with his mind of a child.

He considered his finest work to be Midvinterblot (Midwinter Sacrifice), a large wall mural now displayed inside the Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts.

Image

This is a self-portrait of August Strindberg, (1849-1912), a famous artist from Sweden.

I like this picture because it’s an original black and white photo and  taken by a old camera and no Photoshop and such have been used.

I found many self-portraits of August Strindberg and I chose this one of the reason that he actually looking in to the camera and don’t  flee with his eyes as in many of his other portraits .

I think the picture is really good for its time. It’s sharp and the light is pointed at his face, to give it the focus. I also like when the background is blurred so it don’t take the main focus of the picture.

You can see this picture in the Museum of Strindberg in Stockholm.

Image

Self-portrait of the artist Ivar Arosenius (1878), Sweden.

The photo is made in watercolour and have the measurements 31 x 24 centimetres and was made in Sweden 1906. The owner of this photo is the Swedish National Museum.

I like this photo because Ivar Arosenius sees himself as a bohemian with male artist ideals and I also like it because of the contrast between his head and the flowers.

The photo is portrayed in the nature of Europe and Ivar have a large garland of flowers on his head, wearing a beard and a wool sweater.

My self-portrait

Image

Here is my self-portrait. (Jimmy Kämäräinen Bergstrand (1990), Eskilstuna, Sweden)

This was taken last summer (2013) in Sweden at a “suited up” party.

One of my friends used his phone for this photo and then have I added some filters in Photoshop to get the black white colours.

I like this photo because it’s spontaneous and my face are in focus. Actually is the photo cropped to give my face the whole focus and in turn will the background not appear more clearly and take the main focus. The black and white colours gives the photo some extra effect.

I chose this photo  because I like it and are a good memory of my friends back in Sweden.
